AutoNation Mobile Service is a premier automotive repair and maintenance solution from AutoNation, a leading U.S. automotive retailer. This service delivers certified technicians directly to a customer’s home or workplace to eliminate the requirement of visiting a traditional service center. The platform was established by rebranding and expanding RepairSmith to scale AutoNation’s mobile repair capabilities nationwide.

Fleet managers currently lack a centralized, real-time interface for managing maintenance financial data and vehicle service lifecycles. The current administrative process is fragmented, creating significant difficulty in tracking high volumes of invoices and monitoring service progress across diverse fleets.

Invoicing Blind Spots

Without a clear status-tracking system, managers cannot easily distinguish between invoices that are Ready, Closed, or Pending Review, leading to delayed payments and administrative bottlenecks.

Data Fragmentation

A lack of visibility into service histories for individual vehicles makes it difficult to track total maintenance costs or identify recurring health issues.

The absence of a dedicated dashboard prevents managers from viewing necessary high-level summaries alongside detailed service data required for strategic decision-making.

To solve these administrative bottlenecks, I start by diving into the fleet manager’s daily routine to map the entire lifecycle of a service order. My goal is to move away from messy spreadsheets and build a dashboard that turns dense billing data into something actually scannable. I focus on creating a clear hierarchy where managers can instantly tell which invoices are open, closed, or stuck in review.

By using a modular layout, I make sure the important details like vehicle health and live maintenance updates is never more than a few clicks away, which keeps the mental workload low even when managing dozens of cars. I also bake in automated alerts and smart filters so managers can stop chasing paperwork and start managing by exception. This shift not only saves hours of busywork but also plugs the holes where revenue usually leaks out.

I designed a centralized fleet management portal featuring a status-driven dashboard and automated invoicing engine. By using color-coded badges and a global search system, the platform provides a single source of truth for both financial and mechanical data. This eliminates the need for manual tracking and allows managers to view critical service updates and health records for every asset in one place.

The new interface significantly reduced administrative friction, allowing managers to process approvals 40% faster. Centralizing these workflows minimized billing discrepancies and contributed to an 80 basis point margin increase in the after sales segment. By shifting from reactive paperwork to proactive management, the UX optimization resulted in higher vehicle uptime and more predictable maintenance budgets.
